BELGIAN AEROBIOLOGICAL SURVEILLANCE NETWORK

The Belgian pollen and spore monitoring network was created in 1974. Its main objective is to give rapid information about these allergens to practitioners, pharmaceutical companies and allergic sufferers. These data will help determine a diagnosis and the eviction of high risk periods.

Last update: 16/05/2012

The pollen content of the air is limited for the time of the year due to the unstable and cold weather.

Some early flowering grass species are already in bloom. Every day, we observe small quantities of grass pollen in the air (3 grass pollen grains/m³ in Brussels on May 15th).

People highly sensitized to grass pollen should follow their practitioner's recommendations.

Useful information:

It is well known that at the beginning of the season a few grains may induce symptoms in highly sensitized sufferers.
